Community Touring Scheme
Rural Touring
10 Years
Ten years ago, our rural Community Touring Scheme expanded into Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Rutland with the aim of delivering high-quality live shows by professional performing artists and companies.
Over the past decade, residents in these rural communities - families, friends and neighbours - have gathered in their village halls and community centres for memorable nights of entertainment, enjoying a wide variety of live music, compelling theatre shows and diverse dance performances.
This milestone is only possible because of our passionate voluntary promoter network, who open their doors and hearts to the arts, the brilliant touring companies who go the extra mile (literally!) and the loyal audiences who keep coming back for more. Together, we've delivered over 1800 live events to over 240 communities across these counties!
This milestone is particularly special; a testament to the resilience and determination of communities to keep the arts alive, especially after the last few years, in which the pandemic caused unprecedented disruption to the arts sector. But together, we persevered.
Check out the slideshow below which includes a small collection of heartfelt comments from the people who've made it all possible - promoters, audiences and artists.
As we look back with pride and gratitude, we also look ahead with excitement. Thank you Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Rutland! Here's to the next ten years…and beyond!
Keen to build on this success and reach even more communities within these counties, we are currently recruiting more promoter groups in:
- Charnwood and North West Leicestershire (Leicestershire)
- East Lindsey and North Kesteven (Lincolnshire)
- Rushcliffe, Gedling and Bassetlaw (Nottinghamshire)
So if you want to create a great night out on your doorstep, all you need is a community venue and some enthusiastic volunteers. Live & Local’s funding means that performances are subsidised and that there is little or no financial risk to community promoter groups. Our current season runs until 1st June 2025. For full details of shows and box office information and to subscribe to our newsletter, please visit liveandlocal.org.uk
