Artists Wanted
Live & Local are seeking to recruit a number of freelance associate artists/companies as part of their two community engagement programmes; Rural Hub Towns and LivingRoom.
About Rural Hub Towns
Live & Local’s ‘Levelling up for Rural Culture’ initiative is a program for five rural hub towns and their rural hinterland located in Levelling Up For Culture Places (LUFC) that brings people, places, and arts together, accessible to new audiences and participants and overcoming real and perceived barriers to arts and culture.
The project aims to create a programme of activity chosen and organised by local people with a view to creating links and partnerships to help sustain these activities moving forward. We hope to deepen audience engagement for existing audiences and reach new arts audiences by creating high-quality relevant artistic experiences for communities.
These Hub Towns are: Alford in Lincolnshire, Eckington in Derbyshire, Ollerton in Nottinghamshire, Uttoxeter in Staffordshire and Coleshill in Warwickshire.
About LivingRoom
LivingRoom is our participatory arts project where we connect communities to artists to create projects for people to take part in. Initially an online project that took place during COVID19, LivingRoom has now become an established part of our work enabling communities to create work alongside artists of all art forms including visual.
The project aims to connect up to 12 artists with communities to work collaboratively towards a final showcase, performance or presentation between December 2023 and May 2024 in the East and West Midlands Region.

Artist Expertise
We are looking for artists who have experience in working with communities in the ways listed above. You will need to enjoy and flourish when working with communities and people, some of which will have very little experience in creative activity. We are especially interested in those artists who work across artistic systems and in particular those who work with Words, Sound, Visuals and Movement. An understanding of community arts practice is desirable. It would also be good if you either live or live nearby one of the areas identified.
