Menu Filters

You can simply browse down the full list as necessary.

However by selecting different items on the drop down fields you can focus in on the performances or dates you may be particularly interested in.

The Artform, Audience, Venue Size lists will automatically set the filter when you click them. The Availability list needs you to click Filter List to set the filter. You can build the filter one box at a time. I.e. Select your month (or months by using your Ctrl button while you select each item) then select an item in another drop down. This will automatically set the filter. You can then select another drop down item and so on. You don't have to start with Availability though.

If in doubt.. simply click Reset Filters to Defaults to clear the filter and start again.

There are also two pre defined lists that focus on availability or on technical specifications.

Audience

We categorise each show to help you choose which ones would work best for different audiences in your venue.

  • Adults (+ age range): Subject matter suited to adults only.
  • Adults/Older children (+ age range): Subject matter/style more suited to adults and older children.
  • Adults/Family (+ age range): Suitable for adults unaccompanied by children and for families.
  • Family (+ age range): Particularly aimed at a younger audience, but will be enjoyed by accompanying oldies! NOT for large groups of children.
  • Suitable for All (+ age range): People of all ages will enjoy. NOT for large groups of children.
  • Children (+ age range): Particularly aimed at a young audience including groups of children.

Artform

Guideline to help you select out certain artforms, however beware as some Live & Local shows transcend being pigeon holed!

Availability

Select the month or months (Ctrl + click to select more than one month) in which you are looking for a show. Click Filter List button. There is a separate list that focuses on the availability information.

Venue Size

This is just a basic guide if you are looking for shows for a ‘smaller’ venue. Halls come in all shapes and sizes so it is impossible to exactly define ‘smaller’ in this context. Please always still look at the technical details and call us if in doubt. There is a separate list that focuses on the technical information.

NB: Suitable for “smaller” venues does not mean unsuitable for larger venues!

Priority Shows & Minimum Show Options

These are companies or shows that have a particular significance within the overall programme and that we have said to our main arts funders that we will support. Their subsidy is partly predicated on these shows featuring in the final performance programme. They are companies or shows that:

  • Came through our DART programme including work that has been created in partnership with promoters and/or their audiences;
  • Are our current artform priorities (currently dance, drama and live literature);
  • Are our audience priorities (currently children and young people);
  • Have an uncommon, exceptional or surprising content or presntational style.

To see the list of Priority Shows please visit the online menu and select 'Priority Shows' in the relevent filter field.

Securing Additional Shows

We often get asked how to guarantee to get more than one show. It is impossible to guarantee this as so many factors come into play. However two things will give you an advantage. (1) We strongly recommend you include days other than Friday and Saturday in your choices and (2) select some of our priority shows.
