Tickets not selling?

Brush stroke

Tip - Most Live & Local shows double their sales in the last two weeks.

With 2-3 weeks to go, it's much easier to turn your sales around than you think.  With one week to go, you’re making it difficult so please keep in touch with us as soon as you are concerned, but first....

Take a deep breath
 and check

  • Exactly how many tickets have all your Ticket Sellers sold?
  • How many ‘promises’ have you got?
  • How many tickets do you need to sell to break even? Don’t put pressure on yourself to sell out but remember that the more people at your show, the more you’ll make on refreshments, etc.
  • Between 20 – 30 pre-sales is OK, but don't let up.

What to do first before calling Live & Local:

  • Talk to your Ticket Sellers – if one's selling better than the rest give them more tickets;
  • Put the thumbscrews on your Committee. It’s down to them to sell at least 3-5 tickets each and ‘save the day’;
  • Go back to the people who've promised to come and get a commitment they WILL come. Better still, get the money!
  • Call in favours from friends, family, neighbours and colleagues (if you haven’t already) and make sure they come;
  • Spread the net wider. Use your contacts in your nearest villages.
  • Announce the show / distribute leaflets / sell tickets at every other local event you can think of in the run up to your show;
  • Contact your nearest Live & Local Promoters for help;
  • E-mail everyone local in your address book and ask them to forward the e-mail. Don’t forget the website!

Last Resorts – talk to us about these first

  • Offer 1 or 2 selected groups free tickets to make the event look fuller (called ‘papering the house’). It must be done tactfully to avoid annoying people who’ve paid;
  • Go back to the people who’ve already booked and ask if they’d like to bring 2 friends for free. Again, tact is needed!
  • Other Promoters have used these to good effect! ‘It won’t happen again if you don’t support it
the village hall will lose money
these performers have travelled a long way, don’t let them down’.

Don't worry about the performers; they've worked to all sorts and sizes of audiences!

Cancellations - It’s rare that we agree to a cancellation – and you will still owe us the minimum guarantee.
