Creative Uttoxeter is a fresh initiative in a town celebrated for its agricultural roots, environmental commitment, and lively local culture. This project aims to bring people together through creative events, connecting residents, artists, and organizations in unique ways that highlight Uttoxeter’s values of inclusivity, sustainability, and community spirit.
A Town Dedicated to Nature and Community Connection
Uttoxeter’s passion for sustainability shines through initiatives like Britain in Bloom and the town’s Eco Centre, which hosts clubs, workshops, and the popular annual Climate Carnival. The Eco Centre’s programs emphasize Uttoxeter’s commitment to environmental awareness and Creative Uttoxeter amplifies this dedication with art and events that showcase the beauty of nature and promote eco-conscious living.
The town is also a supportive home for neurodiverse families and people with additional needs, who find a network of support groups and local charities dedicated to building a more inclusive community. Creative Uttoxeter works to ensure everyone feels welcome, designing projects that reflect the diversity and strength of its residents.
A Thriving Market and Fresh Creativity in the Heart of Uttoxeter
Every month, Uttoxeter’s bustling Maker’s Market draws locals and visitors alike, featuring small businesses, artisans, and craftspeople in a lively showcase of handmade goods. Creative Uttoxeter enhances this spirit of local pride, organizing events like the recent re-painting of the skate park by local artist Maisie Baker, which has transformed the park into a vibrant community landmark.
In the summer of 2024, Creative Uttoxeter also organised an inclusive sound workshop in Bramshall Road Park with artist Tom Peel, where participants created a collaborative soundscape using plant bio-signals and underwater recordings. This unique experience deepened community connections to nature and one another in a relaxed and joyful setting.
