Eckington’s identity is deeply tied to its industrial mining past, which is commemorated through an ongoing memorial and active efforts to preserve the village’s rich history. The local heritage centre, powered by a team of passionate volunteers, regularly uncovers and shares fascinating stories about the area’s development. With monthly displays and events during Heritage Open Days, the centre is a treasure trove for anyone interested in Eckington’s past.

The recently revitalized Town Centre Market, held every Friday, is another cornerstone of community life in Eckington. Since setting back up, the market offers an eclectic mix of local goods. It’s a place where both locals and visitors gather, reflecting the community’s resilience and entrepreneurial spirit.

In addition to the market, Creative Eckington now plays a central role in organising cultural events that connect all the villages within the parish. With everything from workshops to performances, these events highlight the town’s commitment to nurturing creativity and bringing people together.
