What is Live & Local: LivingRoom?
LivingRoom is a series of micro-commissions in which we pair professional artists/companies with a local community group to create a bespoke performance or piece of artwork. Best of all, it's completely free to get involved!
Originally launched in 2020 as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Live & Local: LivingRoom was so successful that we have incorporated it into our ongoing programme of activity.
We have just announced the 10 artists/companies who we will be working with throughout our 2022/23 season and are now looking for enthusiastic community groups who would like to take part in this unique project.

"a real eye opener to how remote community projects can work."
"The project has helped reframe the importance of art for the local community"
"We feel so fortunate to have the experience to be involved - and have a wonderful legacy from it - our very own album of songs! "
Artists and communities work together through research, discussion, consultation and participation. Live & Local facilitates an introductory meeting with the artist and community group which is usually in the form of a Zoom meeting to discuss the project and ideas for collaboration. The artist will then hold conversations and/or workshops or other engagement with members of their paired community, and this will be used in the creation of a short work.
Live & Local welcomes community groups based in Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Rutland, Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire to register their interest in taking part in LivingRoom. Live & Local will then look to pair you up with a professional artist to begin working on a creative project together. The project is not limited to the types of community groups mentioned above. We welcome community groups of all kinds to get in touch with us if they are interested.
The current round of projects will be delivered between September 2022 and Summer 2023. Get in touch with us to find out more.
There is no charge to your community.
