A show that will change the way you think of the Blues: We tend to think of the Blues as being a sad and lonely style of music, with its roots in the misery of slavery. The truth is very different: In reality, it encompasses the up-tempo feel-good beat of ragtime, the soulful sound of gospel blues, the cheeky lyrics of hokum and the driving rhythms of Texas and the Delta, which gave birth to Rock 'n' Roll. It's Saturday night dance music, and Sunday morning gospel. It's songs about slow horses, fast women, and getting the next train out of here. Blues is the Healer, as John Lee Hooker said. And that's the point of this great show.

Martin Wood brings you a night of this wonderful music, guaranteed to take your blues away. There are songs from the 1930s (Robert Johnson and Tampa Red) through the 1950s (Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters), right through to JJ Cale and Van Morrison. Clap your hands, stamp your feet and sing along!
