Live & Local – Story Tent

Story, yarn or anecdote - everybody has a story to tell and anybody can tell a story…

We are looking for community groups, individuals and event organisers across the villages of Warwick and Rugby Districts who would like to participate in projects over the next couple of years to collect and tell their communities’ stories.

Live & Local would work with your community to support people of all ages to gather local tales and also teach people how to tell their stories to others.

As part of the project, the Live & Local Story tent (a small round cosy 60 seat marquee) can visit your community – maybe as part of a regular annual fete or carnival event – providing a place to imagine, listen to and tell stories, including professional performances and opportunities to participate in story workshops.

However the Story Tent would only be only half full… and for the rest of the time that it’s in your community you can make use of it as you will… within reason!

At this stage we are simply looking for expressions of interest and for your help in further shaping the project. If you would like to find out more or register your interest, please contact us on (01926) 402173 or admin@liveandlocal.org.uk by 12th February 2010

Equipment for Community Venues

Live & Local has already been approached by some committees that run community venues in Warwick and Rugby Districts with regard to helping with a bid to the Mid Warwickshire LEADER initiative for performance related equipment for their hall.

There may well be benefits to a combined bid from several organisations across the District fronted by one organisation, especially where the individual bids are for less than £5,000. In particular it may also enable an equipment pool for sharing some items.

We would like to find out whether there are any other community organisations/venues that may be considering similar applications – or indeed weren’t aware of the opportunity, but may be interested in participating!

If you would like to find out more or register your interest, please contact us on (01926) 402173 or admin@liveandlocal.org.uk by 12th February 2010.

Other Small Projects

The LEADER process is unsuitable for projects requiring less than £5,000. However there may be an opportunity for Live & Local to act as a gateway organisation to access LEADER funds for smaller projects. Therefore we would be interested in finding out from anyone that has an arts orientated project that would like to consider such an approach for accessing LEADER funding.

If you would like to find out more or register your interest, please contact us on (01926) 402173 or admin@liveandlocal.org.uk by 12th February 2010.
