American Roots

We’re very excited to have booked the charismatic Groanbox Boys. This American duo wowed Live & Local when we saw them in a little pub in Oxfordshire. They play a mix of American folk, blues and Appalachian music as well as musical influences from around the world in a foot-stomping, feel-good fashion.

An insight into the world of Robert Maxwell
Having had two sell out seasons in the West End, we’re thrilled that Philip York is touring Lies Have Been Told to rural communities. It is a one man tour-de-force about the fascinating rise and fall of Robert Maxwell, the notorious newspaper tycoon who in 1991 disappeared overboard from his luxury yacht. And Robert looks uncannily like Maxwell.

Two uplifting love stories from our favourite theatre companies

Quondam Theatre Company return this year with The Last Waltz – a love story set during the closing of a railway signal box that’s based on true family memories that mixes live music and theatre.

Oxfordshire Touring Theatre Company’s River’s Up is a love story set in modern day Worcester about a married couple rediscovering their love for one another when they are affected by flooding - somewhat poignant after the 2007 summer of floods.

Poetry with a twist

Maison Foo bring a unique 21st Century poetry experience where Carol Ann Duffy's poems are brought to life through live theatre, film, radio and brilliant props. The World’s Wife is an enchanting and amusing adaptation for the stage where they set Duffy's poems in a world where all literature has been banned... and secret literature societies are determined to fight with the police hot on their tails.

Returning favourites

There will be some old faces returning this year including Daniel Smith and his blues band, the charming Finetime Fontayne brings Pablo Picasso back to life as he relives the day Picasso visited Sheffield and the brilliant actress Sandra Hunt returns with her popular show Fanny Cradock – The Life and Loves of a Kitchen Devil as well as her brand new show Fast Woman, the story Hellé Nice - artists' model, dancer and champion racing driver.
