Imagine every wedding you've ever been to; the frantic mother of the bride, the one relative who's had a little too much to drink… only this time it's the day of the 1966 World Cup, and everyone has an ear to the radio while no one keeps an eye on the groom and his bride's best friend. Chaos ensues. Rising star theatre company Anoymous is a Woman draws you into the centre of their brilliant new show and welcomes you in as actual wedding guests. A charming, funny, fully and gently immersive night of theatre, with superb period details and some great swinging 60s music, from Dusty Springfield and The Supremes, to The Beach Boys and The Beatles. _________________________________________________________________

30th of July 1966, a date that would go down in history, the day of the World Cup Final between Engand and Germany. But it is also the wedding day of Laura and Joe. 'It Is Now' is an immersive play set at their wedding reception, soundtracked by sounds of the swinging sixties. As you join them for their big day, can Laura keep your attention away from the most iconic game of football England has ever played? Will the day be filled with 'A Groovy Kind of Love', or filled with 'Tears'? Will this be a nuptial fiasco? Someone has snuck a radio in to listen to their team's crucial match. The groom appears to have a very friendly relationship with the bride's best friend. The mother of the bride is frantic, the father flummoxed. And a bonkers relative gets a bit too tipsy and rampantly disorderly. Whether you're on the side of the bride or the groom, of England or (dare it be said?) Germany, this is a cracking evening of witty romance and good-humoured drama, pitch perfect period details and some great 60s music, from Dusty Springfield and The Supremes, to The Beach Boys and The Beatles. The hall is set for the wedding with top table, bunting and flowers and the audience is invited in and welcomed as guests. The wedding celebration seamlessly becomes a theatre show with the four actors performing around the audience's tables. Audience members are encouraged to be very much involved in the performance, but gently so, not 'exposed' and feeling like they're 'on stage'. They will be invited to choose an LP or two for the record player. They can be encouraged in advance to dress for the occasion in their best sixties' 'clobber'. Anonymous Is A Woman Theatre Company was founded as a response to women's underrepresentation in society, history and thus in theatre. Rural touring is at the heart of the company. It works closely with Live & Local and other rural touring schemes to bring exciting new writing to rural venues and builds its pieces to specifically suit these locations. 'It Is Now' was produced in association with Live & Local's DART programme (developing artists for rural touring). 'Really enjoyed 'Think of England'… came away absolutely buzzing… forgot I was watching a play so immersed in it I felt like we were actually there at a party… a talented cast create an intimate world that you're only too happy to become a part of.' Audience member (on 'Think of England') 'Really enjoyed your thought-provoking show... excellent story line with superb actors that were so natural did not feel like actors at all… such a different play! So well done. Very hard hitting, poignant, sad and funny!' Audience member (on 'Think of England')

'Excavates women's stories with spirit and invention.' The Guardian
