A high-energy acoustic vaudeville and vintage western swing act, this outstanding Canadian trio delivers uplifting performances with an emphasis on fun, drawing on a world of carnival barkers and nostalgic romantics. Performed with tight vocal harmonies, stunning musicianship, humorous storytelling and great audience rapport, and with joie-de-vivre emanating from every pore, they make an astoundingly large sound on stage, filling the hall with joy. _________________________________________________________________
A winning combination of world-class musicians and great entertainers, My Sweet Patootie embraces the fun that makes live music so intoxicating. Shades of vintage swing, country blues, folk and ragtime collide in an uplifting vaudeville-style show performed with trademark tight vocal harmonies, impeccable instrumental virtuosity, humorous storytelling, and unflagging energy. This dynamic trio features Canadian Folk Music Award winners, singer-violinist Sandra Swannell and singer-guitarist Terry Young who's 'virtuosic' (BBC Music) fingerstyle guitar work functions simultaneously as the group's guitar and bass. The tasteful ricky-tick brushwork of percussionist John Jackson perfectly complements their music. The group's folk-roots, country blues and vintage jazz sound is heavily influenced by the likes of Chet Atkins, Stéphane Grappelli, Patsy Cline and the Andrews Sisters. Since 2007 My Sweet Patootie has toured regularly across Canada, the USA and the UK, and released four full-length albums. The band's name 'My Sweet Patootie' is 1920's slang, a term of endearment from North America meaning 'hot dame' or 'sassy sweetheart'. It captures the vintage flavour of the band's music and the satirical edge in much of their songwriting. 'When they perform, they bring an act that's two parts exemplary musicianship and one part vaudeville comedy.' Driftwood Magazine 'My Sweet Patootie takes elements of western swing and old-timey music that updates the flapper feel and gives it a real twenty-first-century pizazz. A joy to listen to and if you are looking for music to lift you up and make you smile, look no further.' Fatea Magazine
