BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award nominee 2012. British Blues Awards nominee 2014.

With talents way beyond his years, Derby-born blues-folk troubadour Sunjay has been hailed for his exquisite and seemingly effortless guitar mastery and graceful bass voice, with a mature stage presence and captivating anecdotes. Superb twenty-first century 'new generation' blues music. _________________________________________________________________

A captivating young performer; Sunjay is an extremely talented blues-folk guitarist and singer-songwriter reminiscent of Ralph McTell, John Martyn and early Tim Buckley. Well known on the UK folk scene, Sunjay is an artist with a rare mix of youth (he has just turned 27), combined with a superb, experienced and intricate acoustic guitar style. Sunjay is pretty much the antithesis of your typical denim clad dishevelled folk and blues musician. From his perfectly groomed hair to his spotlessly shining winkle picker boots he is every inch the 'city slicker'. With a relaxed and confident manner, exquisite vocal style, mastery of his instrument and entertaining and often hilarious stories and anecdotes, he walks onto a stage and addresses the audience as though he is sitting down to play music with a group of close friends; a completely natural approach for a young man who picked up the guitar when he was just four years old and hasn't put it down since. 'A very accomplished and dynamic guitarist, with a mature stage presence and echoes of a young Ralph McTell.' R2 Magazine Born in Derby to Anglo-Indian parents (dad from the Midlands, mum from New Dehli) and raised in the West Midlands, his dad introduced him to as much music as possible in the hope that he would develop a life-long passion. Sunjay's first musical love was Buddy Holly, closely followed by Don McLean, firmly rooting him with a blues and folk mix. He has now developed these influences (and also drawn heavily from country and rock), into a musical maturity far beyond his years. 'A wizard on the guitar.' Vin Garbutt 'An amazing picker.' Terry Reid 'Superb, brilliant, experienced, intricate, faultless.' The List Sunjay keeps busy – in 2018 he played over 100 gigs – both as headline performer and as support for the likes of Martin Simpson, Passenger, Phil Beer, Steve Tilston and Terry Reid. From national radio play to main stage festival appearances Sunjay is a major young talent, remaining true to his musical roots, at the same time creating a unique path. 'Exquisite playing.' 3 Chords & The Truth 'Sunjay is nothing short of being hailed a musician's musician.' Liverpool Sound & Vision 'Deft finger picking and sonorous vocals.' Acoustic Magazine 'One of the UK's finest young Blues stars.' Iain Anderson, BBC Radio Scotland 'One of the best young pickers and singers around.' Mike Harding, BBC Radio 2 Folk Show 'A very accomplished and dynamic guitarist, with a mature stage presence and echoes of a young Ralph McTell.' R2 Magazine
