Long established as one of the UK folk scene's most rewardingly enduring partnerships, Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman are 'songwriters par excellence' (fRoots Magazine), their music tuneful, intelligent and soulful. Here, Kathryn's powerful voice is matched against Sean's driving guitar on a set of impressive modern folk songs and heartfelt traditional numbers, switching from thoughtful ballads to stomping acoustic rock. Impressive and entertaining. _________________________________________________________________

Kathryn Roberts: vocals, piano, woodwind

Sean Lakeman: guitar

Dartmoor-based couple Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman are one of the most popular and respected acts on the British Folk scene. Their live performance brings a feeling of inclusivity and informality whilst showcasing a variety of music from old traditional ballads to self-penned 'story songs'.

'These are stories, first and foremost. My home-life is so 'roses round the cottage door', that I tend to prefer music with an edginess, so some of the songs are quite dark and brooding, to say the least.' Kathryn Roberts

Performed to the highest standard on guitar and piano, the duo have been recognised nationally for their talents, winning the prestidgeous 'Best Duo' prize at the 2013 and 2016 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

★★★★ 'Roberts is a powerful, versatile singer who can switch from thoughtful ballads to stomping acoustic rock. An impressive and entertaining set.' The Guardian

'Sean Lakeman is one of the unsung heroes of modern British folk.' MOJO Magazine

'A genuine warmth of personality, wonderfully clear, honest singing and expert guitar accompaniment… a travelling show of no little folk wisdom and generous entertainment.' The Herald (Scotland)

Having graced stages the world over in a number of guises, however, including with the likes of Seth Lakeman, Cara Dillon, Levellers, Kate Rusby and Show of Hands, the intimacy and strength of passion shown as a duo, combined with an eclectic repertoire ensures a rare treat.

★★★★ 'Folk music for the modern age.' The Telegraph

★★★★ 'An impressive and entertaining set.' The Guardian

'A genuine warmth of personality, wonderfully clear, honest singing and expert guitar accompaniment… a travelling show of no little folk wisdom and generous entertainment.' The Herald (Scotland)
