Musical festive cheer from Geordieland with BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2015 double-nominee Jez Lowe and his terrific band. A real winter-warmer of a folk/music-hall revue, packed with great comic songs new and old, rousing regional tunes, excellent musicianship, jovial banter and cheerful good humour. Warm-hearted, easy-going and nostalgic, this is an outstanding tribute to Christmas in the northeast of England. _________________________________________________________________

Jez Lowe: vocals, guitar

Kate Bramley: fiddle, vocals

Andy May: accordion, Northumbrian smallpipes, whistles

David de la Haye: bass

Benny Graham: vocals

Jez Lowe & The Bad Pennies have been playing their songs and music of Northern England for a decade and a half around the folk festivals, clubs and concert stages of the world, coupling acoustic simplicity with electric vitality. Strong vocals, backed by an outstanding instrumental line-up of guitar, cittern, fiddle, fretless bass, keyboards and Northumbrian Pipes, have made them one of Britain's top attractions on the folk/acoustic/Celtic circuit.

Jez Lowe's Christmas tours have become something of a tradition in his native North-East over the last eight years, and indeed across the country, a festive winter-tainment night of songs, banter and seasonal scrooge-like tomfoolery, done the way only Geordies know how.

'Lowe is a singular talent you don't have to come from the northeast to enjoy.' BBC Music

'Jes Lowe is an outstanding singer and songwriter, and The Bad Pennies, excellent musicians in their own right, are much more than just a backing group, adding their own individual touches.' Living Tradition

Here Jez and his multi-talented band are joined by special guest folk balladeer Benny Graham, a leading exponent of Tyneside song.

'One of the hottest acts around.' The Telegraph

'Jez Lowe is one of our finest songwriters... a singular talent.' BBC Radio 2
