Performance date and time
Sunday, 18th November 2018
Rattled by the bones of felons and steeped in campfire smoke, this outstanding Australian bush band performs riveting folk from the era of criminal women and convict men, treachery and transportation.
This is a gorgeous, haunting marriage between darker, stranger folksongs of colonial Australia, sweet, evocative vocals and unerringly beautiful music, all with a wry, subversive antipodean twist. _________________________________________________________________

Gothic tales of Australia’s dark history re-told.
Defiantly modern, achingly old, this most daring of Australian bush bands from Melbourne, Australia perform songs of criminal women and desperate men from an era of transportation, adventure and gold.
The Guardian described fiddle-singer and band leader Jenny M. Thomas as an 'edgy rising folk star', The Unthanks invited them to perform at their own festival and together with double bassist Dan Witton and drummer Chris Lewis they toured the UK and Ireland in 2016 and 2017 with sold out concerts in London, 5 star reviews - 'outstanding', 'mesmerising', 'utterly riveting' - and performances at Festival No. 6 and Shambala.
Started in 2009 with a series of urban bush band sessions – gigs where every week a new crop of musicians would join Jenny's 'bush band' and improvise through a playlist of traditional Australian songs – the band played its first gig as a live-to-air broadcast on ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) Radio National's 'The Music Show'.
Bush Gothic's latest album release 'The Natural Selection Australian Songbook' was chosen as a runner up for fRoots Magazine 2016 Album of the Year, BBC Magazines Best World Music Albums of 2016.
